Dr. Matt Brosi, LMFT

Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy | Licensed Marital & Family Therapist and AAMFT Approved Supervisor

Specializing in Divorce, Co-Parenting, Couples, Infidelity, Men’s Issues, and Father Involvement

I am a licensed marital and family therapist (LMFT) and a Full Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) at Oklahoma State University. I currently serve as the MFT Program Director within the Department of Human Development and Family Science, as a State Specialist with the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service, and hold the Masonic Endowed Chair for Interdisciplinary Research. I received a B.S. in Psychology from Northwest Missouri State University, an M.S. in Human Development and Family Science from the University of Arkansas, and a Ph.D. in Family and Child Ecology, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Michigan State University.

I specialize in helping individuals and families navigate complex relational and emotional challenges—particularly in the areas of couples counseling, infidelity recovery, co-parenting through divorce, remarriage/stepfamily formation, father involvement, and intimate partner violence. I served in the US Air Force and Missouri Air National Guard with Security Forces and have a heart for the work of first responders. Over the course of my career, I have trained and clinically supervised countless MFTs in Oklahoma, guiding them toward licensure and shaping the next generation of ethical, competent practitioners. With over 21 years on faculty at OSU, I have taught graduate-level courses in ethics, MFT theories, human sexuality, psychopathology, and clinical supervision, and have served as a reviewer for the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education. I have also served for 10 years on the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure, the regulatory body overseeing licensure for MFTs, LPCs, and LBPs.

I co-authored the national award-winning Co-Parenting for Resilience program and have developed additional statewide initiatives addressing mental health, stress management, fatherhood, and opioid misuse prevention. My research has been supported by state, federal, and private funding and centers on family resilience and improving treatment and training models within the field of family therapy. In my spare time, I am the Scout Master for my boys' scout troop, and my wife and I enjoy all of their scouting, hockey and academic adventures.
